Hey, just wondering if anyone has heard anything from or about Lia? She was supposed to send my sock kit, and I never received anything and I have not heard from her, so I was wondering if maybe someone knows what happened. Trying really hard not to feel screwed over here :)

I leave for a missionary trip to Mexico this Saturday, August 4th. So, I will be unavailable until after Sunday, August 12th.

I got a great box in the post today! Mary sent me beautiful stuff check out my blog for pics and all the details!

Hooray! It's finally here!

After a severe lack of cooperation from the U.S. Postal Service (or maybe the Ministry of Magic confiscated the package to make sure there were no secrets from Dumbledore slipping through), my swap kit from Ansley finally arrived today. And, boy howdy, it was well worth waiting for.

What she sent:

• 1 absolutely gorgeous striped and felted bag
• 3 skeins of sock wool - 2 wine colored and 1 sort of a golden apricot
• Size 1 double pointed needles
• A row counter braclet (I've been eyeing those, but never could bring myself to buy it for myself)

Who did a great job with her first stitch markers (I wouldn't know it was your first time, Kristen, they are so nicely done). Very pretty sock yarn too (what are they? I couldn't find a label), a pair of 2.75mm Knitpick circulars, a knitted cotton drawstring bag, a pattern, an Albus Dumbledore bookmark, and HP sweets. The photo is coming out blue- I dropped the camera when we were in Ireland, so it still works, but all of the photos are now blue. Add some yellow to this and we have a perfect Hufflepuff package!

I love my package!

My owl arrived on Wednesday but nobody was home. I went to pick it up this morning and opened it int he car in front of the post office. OMG, Kate, you have completely rocked my world! There was so much stuff in the package that I could take a picture of it all.There's a skein of hand-dyed yarn, 2 skeins of Koigu, a set of bamboo needles, 2 sets of handmade birch needles, a bath bomb, bubble bath, a Canada shot glass and patch, a magnet from Lettuce Knit, and a bag that is so cute that I originally thought that it was store bought. (Plus, 2 bags of Twizzlers and a bag of strawberry hard candies.)

Well, the owl arrived this past Saturday with my kit from Lori... too bad I was in Austin *lol* I had gone to a friend's on Friday and we went to a DH Release Party in Georgetown TX -- I as Molly Weasley and she as Tonks.

However, When I got home Sunday night this is what I found!!!

I recieved my package on Sat but had to find my camera and then find batteries because they were dead! It was a great package from Tasha thanks SO much I LOVE THE YARN I have actually already started a pair with the etsy yarn and plan on uses the Lorna's Laces for Fawkes because it's perfect for it as soon as I learn how to use 2 circs and then I can't wait to get started! Book 7 was great! I have finished and loved it. I think she left it open enough to write more books someday. I did cry but won't say why so as not to spoil. No Owl post for me yet.

USPS Flat Rate Boxes

I can't believe that I totally forgot to mention this!!! Someone (I forgot who because a couple of weeks have gone by already) reminded me of this.

For those of you who have not mailed their packages take note, and for those of you who have this is FYI for next time.

The United States Postal Service now has flat rate boxes that are perfect for mailing kits in! The flat rate is $8.95 a box.

You can also go to the USPS's website and order a pack of 10 boxes for FREE!! All you do is pay for shipping.

It Came!!!

No, not my package- at least not yet- but I've been watching the sky for it. But, the pattern finally came- the one I order for myself actually, but since the one that I bought for Amy hasn't come, she'll get this one and I will wait in eager anticipation of my own. So, tomorrow morning an owl will start flying Amy's way! Watch for it. It's the one in the huge box (cause I couldn't find a smaller one. Yippy!!! 2 days till the book! Oh, and GO GRYFFINDOR!!!

Quidditch ~ So close!!!!

Ladies, this round of Quidditch brought the competition so, so close!! It would have been interesting to get a third round in to see who would have come out ahead, but alas, this is a short swap.

Of course we've already congratulated Angela for finding the Snitch for Hufflepuff House, but the overall winner of the Quidditch games this time around is ~

Just a recap, for the House points I add the total possible points for each house and divide that against the actual number of points earned. So, no matter how big or small the House is the points are reflected by the percentage of people that participate in Quidditch and answer the questions right.

3 days until the book I can hardly wait. Where was the snitch found?

Hmm....

I pre-ordered the new book and since I did so before July 15th I got the special Saturday delivery. No line ups for me :)

But then...

I open my giant mouth and say to the family "Hey! Let's go camping this weekend!" So we'll be away when my book arrives. Boo.

What do you think the odds of my children understanding that we can't go camping because Mommy wants to wait for a book?

The Snitch has been found!!!!

Woot!! It was actually found by two Hufflepuffers, but the congratulations goes to Angela of Hufflepuff who got her email in to me at 6:26 p.m. Pacific Standard Time! Bronwyn followed up her email shortly after at 6:43 p.m.

So, that's an extra 150 points for Hufflepuff. I'm in the middle of statistics homework that needs to be turned in tonight, so I will add up the House points tomorrow morning.

I'm so excited! I'm almost ready to send out my package to my partner. I made some cool (if I do say so myself) stitch markers today while the baby napped, and all I've got left is to find a nice sock pattern or two to include, and pick up a sweet or two, and then that baby is ready to go!

I'm so excited! I'm almost ready to send out my bag of goodies. I've got the yarn, the needles, a few non-edible treats, and some pretty cool (if I do say so myself) stitch markers that I made this afternoon while the baby was napping. I went to the nearest yarn shop today to try to find a nice sock pattern, and would you believe in the whole entire store all they had was one, free Lion Brand give away pattern! Tomorrow I'll try to take a ride to a better LYS and pick out a nice booklet, and I'd also like to stop by the Honey Dukes and find a sweet. Then it'll be ready to go!

I'm so excited!

My DH & I are going to see The Order of the Phoenix tonight! I just wish I could wear my contacts and see better (stupid eye infection).
I finished by bag for the swap and I think it's a bit smaller than the ones I've seen posted here, but I think it's quite HP. It reminds me of the bags for Bertie Bots Beans. Now all I have to do is wait for the yarn and needles I ordered to show up and my package will be off.

Very, very strange! The Snitch has still not been found and it has been two days since it's release. The Snitch is placed on one of the pages of a swap member's blog. When the Seeker (that is any swap member) finds the Snitch they should email me immediately with the page url that the Snitch was found on. It should be an easier task this time around since there are less swap member pages to go through.

Just returned from Diagon Alley and found some very fun gadgets for my swap pal. The Yarn is in the dye pot and the bag is on the drawing board. I am having a blast. ;)

I have my bag all finished for my partner, its felted and I love it. I wish I had time to make her another one and keep this one for me :-) I love the way it turned out and it is great for carrying around socks while knitting them. Okay, gals! Here's how this works. I post a total of 10 trivia questions and 5 pictures for you to find and post on your blogs. Below is the points schedule:

The trivia will be up until Saturday. The Snitch will be released mid-day Saturday and is usually found pretty quickly - within the hour of it being released. After the Snitch has been found the trivia comes of the site and the House points will be totaled.

Nearly there

I've been having so much fun shopping and sewing etc and I'm nearly finished gathering all the necessaries.

There will be a slight delay between assembly and the mail I think due to the fact that my laptop refuses to speak to my printer, I guess it is time to get a new printer... (silly Vista-snob laptop).

THREE WEEKS!!!

Can you believe there are only 3 weeks left to the swap??? Oh my gosh! Thankfully I ordered my needles and stitch markers already. I only have to get the yarn now. I was going to knit a bag, but think that this one will definitely by sewn.

QUIDDITCH
I was going to start the first Quidditch round this weekend, but murphy's Law definitely prevented me from focusing on this swap. So, this is what will happen. This Wednesday the trivia will be posted for all to see. The Snitch will be released on Saturday. This will give everyone a chance to get their trivia answers up. NOTE!!! Once the Snitch is found the trivia questions are removed from the site and points will be totaled. In order to get two rounds in the next round of Quidditch will take place the following week.

Prizes are yet to be determined.

How many stitch markers are in a set?

A question for (my) confusion

I am wondering if we are supposed to knit socks for our exchange partner, or just send yarn and a pattern. I noticed that the first swap involved knitting the socks, and when reading a few participants blogs, they say they are knitting their partner's socks. Unfortunately, not all of the blogs I have looked at seem to have been updated, so I am not sure if they are knitting for this (#2) swap, or the first one (since a lot of folks seem to be in both). I just need a little help an if I am supposed to be knitting a pair of socks so I can plan my calender. Thanks!

Swap Partner Update

I'm done with the partnering and now I'm working on emailing everyone. Panera's is closing so I'm taking my show on the road. Hopefully I'll get all the emails out before 10 p.m.

It has been a long and busy day. I have just taken myself over to Panera for an uninterrupted time to partner matching! I should be done within the hour.

Early House Points Tally

First a little explanation of how I do this. Points are based on percentage, so no matter how many people are in your House you can still win this thing! Thankfully, this time we are pretty well balanced. The smallest House is Hufflepuff and the largest is Gryffindor. I am not included in the Slytherin's number, so both Ravenclaw and Slytherin have the same amount of participants - 7.

Gryffindor - 70%

Hufflepuff - 66%

Slytherin - 61%

Ravenclaw - 28%

These points were given as a little incentive to boost membership. Swap members had to blog about HSKS2 (worth 10 pts.) and post the logo in their side bar (5 pts.). As you can see Gryffindor is taking a strong lead already, but I have a feeling the they will definitely get a run for their money :)

SIGN-UPS CLOSED

Sign-ups are now closed for this session. Swap members will receive their partners on Monday, and then we'll be off! I have a billion things to do right now, but I will make sure that I get to everyone that signed up today. If you signed up today and you do not see your name on the site by tomorrow evening, go ahead and send me an email, but be warned that you won't hear from me until Sunday evening or (mostly likely) Monday after I get back from camping and all settled.

Sign Ups Prefects, and Vacation

Hello!
Just wanted to let everyone know that sign-ups will close Thursday evening. So, there are a few more hours to let your friends know about the swap! And a few more hours to earn some extra House points for your House by posting the logo and blogging about the swap.

Prefects
We will need someone to volunteer for prefect duty for the Hufflepuff and Slytherin Houses. The prefects job is really just to rally the troops. On Monday I'll email all the prefects the email addresses of the swap members in their Houses. You'll be that extra encouragement to remind them when Quidditch whil be in session and to make sure that they contact the person that they are making a kit for before the end of the swap.

Vacation
I'm going camping with my family and will be gone Friday, Saturday, and will return Sunday afternoon. I will leave my contact information with the prefects.

I'm so glad that you came by! We had such a blast with the last HSKS, and so many of the ladies made gorgeous bags, that we though we'd have another one! This round of HSKS will take place during the month of the release of the next HP movie and the release of the last Harry Potter book *sniff* So, if you are crazy about Harry Potter, like so many of us are, please join us!!

You will be swapping a sock kit which will which should total an approximate $30 to $40 and include these items:

1. A handmade (by you!) kit bag in your pals House colors- this can either be knitted, crocheted or sewn, but you must MAKE the bag!

2. Sock yarn in your pals house colors

3. A pair of new knitting needles

4. A set of stitch markers in your pals house colors - handmade or purchased

5. A sock pattern

You may feel free to add whatever little items that you choose to make your package special for your pal.

Musts: For this swap you must have a blog hosted anywhere (It does not have to be a Blogspot blog - my personal blog is a WordPress blog), and you must post in your blog four times a month - so that's 7 times during this swap. You also have to acknowledge in a blog post when you've received your package from your swap partner within 3 days of receiving it.

Before signing up for the swap you must be sorted into one of Hogwarts four houses: Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw or Slytherin. Please look to the sidebar for links to the Sorting Hat.

Prefects
I will need four people to volunteer as prefects. I'll need one for each House and your role is to simply act as the House Cheerleader. Visit blogs and answer questions that swap members may have.

Quidditch
There will be two rounds of Quidditch during this swap. This swap is shorter than the last one, so we'll only have two rounds and there will be no weekly trivia. Quidditch consists of a trivia challenge, picture scavenger hunt, and a hunt for the Golden Snitch.

How to Join
Sign ups will be closed after the swap reaches 100 participants or by June 21st. Please fill out the form below. Afterwards you'll be brought back to this site. If you would like to have a international pal, please say so in the comments section, otherwise you will be matched with someone within your home country or very close to it :)

This is not a secret swap so you will be able to email your partner to see what her preferences are if they are not answered in the questionnaire.
